Something new for all of you!

As many of you are aware, I am working on a new series called "Superfoods" which will highlight foods that are not only good for you, but also taste good on their own as well as when mixed with other foods.

I wanted to give you a taste (no pun) of what is to come by sharing a little something on the same subject matter.
I've had this smoothie recipe for a few years but was unable to locate it until recently while going through some old study notes.

I call it "Morning Glory In A Glass". Not only is this drink effective in cleansing, but it is also quite tasty.

*Please note that there are nuts included in the list of ingredients, so if you have an allergy please consult with your physician first.*

When I make this drink I usually add the ingredients into the blender without measuring. Until you get acclimated to the mixture, it would be advisable to use the suggested measurements and make adjustments as you go.

Here's the recipe for "Morning Glory In A Glass":

* one ripened, peeled (or unpeeled if you have an industrial smoothie maker) banana
* 4-5 strawberries or other type of berries, or fruits
* one tablespoon of toasted wheat germ
* 1/4 cup each of almond milk and pure apple juice

In a coffee grinder, grind up around a teaspoon or less of the following:

* brown sesame seeds - high in lecithin, vitamin C, E, and Calcium. They improve liver function and provide constipation relief.

* sunflower seeds - high in protein, calcium, and iron. Many consider them to be a member of the "Superfoods" group which nourish the entire body (more on this in a later article).

* flax seeds - high in fiber and provide bulk for healthy eliminations.

* almonds - use between five and seven. They are high in calcium, phosphorus and have some B-vitamins, but are also high in calories.

After grinding the nuts and seeds, add them in the blender and mix everything together for about 2-4 minutes. If you need a little sweetness, you can add a small amount of honey.

Sometimes I'll add the powder of two or three acidophilus capsules for added benefits. Try it out, you may like it!

Let us know what you think about it!

Enjoy the morning!

5 Simple Ways To Lower Cholesterol

You can easily lower your bad cholesterol levels without drugs by following simple steps that will not only change your cholesterol levels, but also improve your health today and for the long haul.

We often use prescription drugs in hopes that they will miraculously cure our ailments. Cholesterol-lowering drugs do tend to work, but there are short and long term side effects to consider such as: drug dependency, tangential organ damage, and possible fatal consequences.

Even more dangerous than the side effects of prescription drugs to lower cholesterol is not getting cholesterol under control.

Eventually, high cholesterol can lead to severe damage to the heart and arteries, not the least of which are atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), stroke or cardiac arrest.

I have listed 5 simple ways you can realistically lower your cholesterol without prescription medication.

Zero Cost Weight Loss

"If it's for free, its for me."                                  --A good friend of mine
Low cost is great, but free is always better....

Weight loss plans can become very expensive when you consider all of the diet aids and techniques you may have to utilize to reach your goals.

Today's economy almost precludes you from aggressively pursuing an effective weight loss program due to the anticipated expense involved.
