Not So "Fast"

Overeating causes gas bloating as well as abdominal discomfort. This also causes the digestive system to function abnormally as it's only able to break down significantly smaller portions of food on a gradual basis. It's like filling up or over stuffing a bag without ever considering its capacity to endure compiled material.

One of the main purposes for fasting is to detoxify or purify your body from various impurities. It gives your body the opportunity to fine-tune itself for complete balance.

Fasting is a vital part of maintaining a balanced and healthy life. I'd like to briefly describe to you five highly effective fasting techniques.

The most common cleansing methods are water fasting, juice fasting, eating vegetables and eating less. The best way to gain benefits from detoxification is to employ these techniques consistently and periodically.

Eating less - This simple approach may not be considered a "true fast" by some fasting idealists, but it's a great way for beginners to start. To start this fast, just allow yourself to get hungry (not starving) after a sensible meal. Your next meal should be about 1/4 portion smaller than the previous. Drink water to fill up your stomach while you are eating (or afterwards if you choose). This helps your body digest your food gradually because of the extended consumption interval. Indigestion is usually caused by us exhausting our digestive systems by constantly feeding our bodies. This fast also allows your digestive system to rectify any imbalances you may have. This fast may naturally cleanse your body without the aid of any colon cleansing products.

Eating Vegetables Fast - Regular consumption of raw vegetables and fruits as part of your diet helps your system quickly remove toxic waste from your colon. Eating fruits and vegetables also minimizes your total caloric intake. Fruits and vegetables do contain water, but it is still vital that you consume the recommended daily amount of purified water along with this method. The water will further help the fiber in the fruits & veggies to easily remove the harmful substances present in your colon. 

Juice Fast - This is one of the easiest fasting options available. The reason for this is solely due to the absorption properties of vegetables or fruit juices. Unlike solid & semi-solid foods, liquids get absorbed directly into your bloodstream shortly after consumption. It's an excellent way to maintain good health in general. It directly cleanses toxins out of your body. The juices have ample amounts of vitamins and other vital nutrients. These juices are easily digested if consumed in appropriate quantities. Due to the juices easy absorption properties, your body's digestive enzymes work less and tend to become more effective when solid foods are reintroduced to your body after the fast.

Honey ,Lemon And Water Fast - This is also a good method of fasting as it provides essential nutrients such as potassium, lutein, and Vitamins A, B and C. This fast helps the detoxification process and assists your digestive system's ability for easier evacuations. This cleansing process is one of the easiest for first timers to adjust to.
Water Fast - This can be a very challenging fasting method. It is not recommended for first time fasters as it forces the body to burn existing fat and calories directly for sustenance. Consuming only water as your diet on a daily basis may prove to be too difficult for most neophytes. Again, just like all the other fasts mentioned here, you need a trained and licensed medical professional's advice before starting this program. This type of fasting is intense but the results are unmatched.

These are just a handful of fasting techniques that may help you detoxify your body. Discuss them with your doctor to get their opinion on this subject. Remember friends, your health is your wealth!

SAD is a very serious subject matter that deserves attention from everyone because it can affect everyone. I have a longtime friend of mine that was diagnosed with SAD about 10 years ago and she is still under treatment to this day. Keep in mind that this is a successful lawyer and mother of three very bright teenager sons. She's been married to the same man for over 15 years and I have known her and her family for about as long. She gets along quite well for most of the year until the winter season and then she slips into the depression mode (as I call it). I would urge everyone to please refer this post to anyone you know that may also be suffering from this condition. Thank you so much Kurt for putting this post up.

I believe you may have intended for this comment to appear under my "Isn't It SAD?" article, but that's okay. SAD is indeed serious enough to write about. This condition affects millions worldwide and should be openly discussed with everyone.

I'm glad your friend is getting treatment for SAD and I hope she gets better as time goes by. Please tell her not to lose hope and that as long as she has a supportive family and friends (like you) there's only a brighter future ahead.
