Composition Of A Good Nutrient Rich Diet

For the human body to function well, it should be fed a good balance of vitamins and nutrients. There are three primary macronutrients which we consume namely protein, fat, and carbohydrates. Without these, our body won't be able to function properly. Since we cannot synthesize vitamins in sufficient quantities, they must be obtained from dietary sources.  We also need several minerals for our body to function smoothly. Calcium and phosphorous, for example, aside from being important in the strengthening and lengthening of your bones are needed by your heart to pump efficiently. Salt, aside from adding flavor to your dishes, contain sodium and chlorine which help in maintaining fluid balance and producing digestive juices, respectively. Mineral salts are ionic in nature, they help regulate pH levels in our blood and body. Maintenance of proper pH levels is crucial for the proper functioning of the body, a balanced supply of necessary mineral nutrients ensures that

Five Questions......

One of the best ways to start out your new year is to make a self-assessment list. Don't focus on what you may have failed to accomplish in the last 12 months. It's unimportant and can be self-defeating. Rather, look at where you want to be and use tiny steps to get there. I'll give you an example: Although there's always room for improvement, I see myself as somewhat content with my life the way things are. It is, of course difficult to think of anything else when there are real issues to be discussed. We all have to deal with problems from time to time. Whatever they may be, these challenges are all a part of growing up. Modern psychology has taught (or conditioned) us to "get in touch with our inner child". Hogwash. Here's a challenge: Try telling your mortgage lender that you missed last month's payment because you needed to explore your fascination with dollies, so you blew off making the payment. or Explain to your kids that there are no groceri

The Basics Series: Part Three

Modern Medicine vs Traditional Methods Physicians and other medical professionals are very beneficial to society as a whole, but what happens when trendy doctoring merely will not work? It is a known reality that antibiotics have saved many lives over the years. However, a recent resurgence of "classic" viruses and germs are proving to be extraordinarily resistant to applied medical therapies. Antibiotics are largely ineffective against them. Mainstream doctors are currently recommending natural therapies to treat both minor symptoms and chronic conditions. Dietary modification, for example, has become a key weapon against illnesses that would have needed in depth prescription drug treatment a generation ago.

The Basics Series: Part Two

Why Natural Therapies Work Natural therapies found in alternative medicine are considerably older than Western treatments such as invasive surgical techniques and antibiotics. Numerous experts theorize that herbal remedies and Ayurveda, the traditional medicine of India, may have existed for more than five millenia. One of the principal goals of natural healing is to completely break the cycle of dependency and allow people to have more control over their lives. Physicians and other medical professionals are very beneficial to society as a whole, but what happens when modern doctoring simply does not work? It is a known fact that antibiotics have saved millions of lives over the years. However, a recent resurgence of "old" viruses and germs are proving to be extremely resistant to conventional therapies. Antibiotics are no longer effective against them.

The Basics Series: Part One

Standard Treatment Regimen If you become ill, you'll naturally visit the doctor, get a diagnosis done and be given a prescription. You take the medication as prescribed, and hopefully, you will be cured. If additional symptoms develop, you'll be prescribed medication for those health issues as well. Each symptom gets its own medication and if those symptoms create additional issues...you get the idea. This is how modern health care works these days - an endless cycle of diagnosis and prescription. If it were suggested that you simply get garden herbs and roots for medicine, you may dismiss this recommendation as utter rubbish.

Hello everyone! I'm not sure if you are all aware or not, but we have had a MASSIVE heat wave here in Chicago & pretty much most of the upper Midwestern states. Anyway, I'd like to invite you to check out more of my articles on health maintenance. If you like (or *gulp* dislike) what you've read  let's talk about it. I'm always open to discussion. Until next time. I'm all ears.........
