2013: The Year You Lose The Weight!!! (Part Two)


I'd like to deal with an essential part of your weight loss goal, healthy eating. We all know we're supposed to eat a balanced diet for maximum fitness at home. You want to make sure you have substantial amount of steamed vegetables accompanying your proteins & starches with each applicable meal.

Using a common sense approach with your grocery shopping & advance meal planning it is relatively simple to accomplish your weight loss goals....but, what about when you are not at home?



Dining Out--Healthier


Obviously, eating  at home has its economic as well as presumed nutritional advantages over dining out. If you just have to eat out at a restaurant, keep in mind, you may also be tempting yourself to eat a larger portion than you might normally eat. What would normally be a simple 500 calorie meal can easily turn into a 3000 calorie gorge fest. 

In order to lose weight by cutting calories, it is essential that you are constantly aware of exactly what you are putting into your body. This is not to make you appear as an overbearing health nut to your friends, but to simply apply the same discipline to your dining routine as you do with your work outs. Remember, you have a fitness regime to follow.



When eating out, generally you are in a social situation where food does not have to be a priority – but spending time with your friends is. However, to fit in socially, we tend to "do as The Romans do" by joining in with the crowd by eating mass quantities. Non-dessert eaters often even spring for the extra round of calories.

You will be amazed at the difference in the amount of calories you intake when you make sensible choices as your meal option. Temptation is ever-present on the dessert menu, so be aware.

Try an in season, fruit-based dessert instead of the high-fat, dairy based sweets that your friends may choose to indulge in. During warmer months, low-sugar sorbets are an excellent substitute for let's say a torte or a fatty parfait. Sometimes, even a simple piece of fruit can suffice to quench your sweet tooth. 

By reducing your overall calorie intake and increasing your level of physical activity, you will be able to lose those 3,500 calories without much trouble. Make sure that you stay focused, motivated and on task.

    I'm glad you liked the article. Losing weight is a priority at ALL times. When you are trying to keep a healthy diet/meal plan, it's good to stick to your goals no matter who you are around.

    I know it can be a little hard trying to stay focused when you have family members that do not show dedication to your goals. Just try to stay focused and eat only healthy, low-fat, low-carb foods. If it becomes unbearable, just politely excuse yourself from the table until everyone else is finished. I hope that helps!
